Good idea, some minor issues

I tried Refare's Automatic Airfare Refund Service for my trip to Miami, tracking a United Airlines flight. The setup was fairly straightforward, and it was nice to see the Price Drop Alerts coming in. It did manage to secure a refund for me, which was great. However, the process of actually getting the money back took a bit longer than I expected after the alert; it wasn't instant, more like a few days to process everything. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about the refund status, but the whole thing felt a little less 'automatic' than advertised. Still, getting money back that I wouldn't have otherwise is a definite plus for value, and it saved me a good amount.

Saved me some cash!

So I used Refare for my Delta flight to see my sister, and it was pretty cool. I just linked my flight info, and they did their thing. I got an alert that my ticket price dropped, and next thing I know, they handled the refund for me. It wasn't a huge amount, but hey, extra coffee money! It was super easy, I didn't have to do anything myself once I set it up. Definitely felt good to get money back without even trying. Would use it again for sure.

Easy to use, got refund.

Used Refare for my Alaska Airlines flight. Set up was quick. Got a Price Drop Alert and they handled the refund. Money showed up later. Good service.

I'm a bit nervous about linking my email account. Is Refare safe with my personal info and booking details?

D David F. 1 week ago
They have a pretty clear privacy policy. They need access to your booking confirmations to track prices, but they're not supposed to misuse your data. I've been using it for months without issues.

I've linked my email and haven't had any problems. They're a legit service, not some shady data miner, from what I can tell.

Hey, I'm thinking about trying Refare for my summer trip to Europe. Does it work for international flights, or is it just for domestic US ones?

B Ben G. 1 month ago
Yeah, it does international flights too! I used it for my trip to Japan last year and it caught a price drop.

Pretty sure it's global. Their site says they support a bunch of airlines, so it's not just US carriers.

Are there any promo codes floating around for Black Friday or anything? Planning a big trip around then.

T Todd 3 weeks ago
They often have promos around big travel times like Black Friday or summer. Keep an eye out on their site or maybe some travel blogs for a referral link or special offer.

They definitely do seasonal promos. I'd check closer to Black Friday or Cyber Monday for sure. Sometimes it's just an automatic discount when you sign up during those periods.

So, how exactly does Refare get you money back? Do I have to do anything myself after it finds a drop?

C Colin Lindqvist 1 month ago
Nah, that's the cool part. It's supposed to do it all automatically. Like, they track the price, and if it drops enough for a refund, they handle contacting the airline and getting the credit/refund for you.

My understanding is they pretty much automate the whole refund claim process. You link your booking and they take over if a price change happens that makes you eligible.

Is Refare worth it compared to just using Google Flights or Hopper to watch prices? Or is it different?

S Sarah 4 weeks ago
It's totally different. Google Flights and Hopper tell you *when* to book. Refare watches *after* you book and gets you money back if the price drops. So you'd use them together, not one or the other.

Yeah, Refare is post-purchase protection. The others are for pre-purchase price prediction/tracking. Refare literally gets you cash back or credit after you've already bought the ticket.

Does Refare just work for the big US airlines like Delta and American, or do they support smaller ones too?

L Laura C. 1 month ago
They support a lot, including the major ones you mentioned, plus Southwest, Alaska, JetBlue, United. Not sure about really tiny regional ones, but most of the main carriers are covered.

C Chris Hughes 4 weeks ago
Yeah, they got all the big ones. I used them for a Southwest flight and it worked perfectly.

I saw something about a free trial or a discount for new users. Is that still a thing?

N Nick Vargas 1 month ago
Yeah, usually you can get your first flight tracked for free. Or if someone refers you, there's often a percentage off the service fee. Check around for referral links.

They often have a free tracking for the first flight or a sign-up bonus. I got 20% off my first successful refund fee from a link I found.

How much do they actually take if they get me a refund? Is it a flat fee or a percentage?

I Ivy Foster 1 month ago
It's a percentage of the refund they get you, but they only charge if they're successful. So no refund, no fee.
1
M Mia 1 month ago
I think it's a success-based fee. So if they save you money, they take a cut. If not, you pay nothing. That's what I remember reading.
